AP Policy of Languages

Students who take an Advanced Placement (AP) language class are eligible to receive Clemson credit with a score of 3, 4, or 5. The AP Credit Policy with the Clemson credit awarded can be viewed here: https://www.clemson.edu/admissions/undergraduate/documents/apcreditchart.pdf

A summary of AP Credit for Languages is listed below:

However, the Department of Languages requires that students with a background in languages take the Modern Language Placement Test (MLPT) and/or interview with faculty to make sure that they are placed in the appropriate class to be successful at Clemson. If a student places lower than what their AP credit awards, they will start at the level they placed on the MLPT and the AP credits earned then become elective credits.

See Placement Test  for more details.
