ProfileDr. William M. Casey received his Ph.D. in Criminology from Florida State University. His research centers on the criminal and juvenile justice systems, with a particular emphasis on the pretrial phase. Dr. Casey has extensive experience collaborating with state and local criminal justice agencies on funded research projects. He currently serves as Co-Principal Investigator, alongside Dr. Vivian Aranda-Hughes, on a project funded by the Clean Slate Initiative examining the impact of clean slate legislation implementation in Colorado. He has also recently worked on projects funded by the MacArthur Foundation’s Safety and Justice Challenge, which aimed to reduce reliance on cash bail and pretrial detention, as well as a National Institute of Justice study assessing how variations in outcome measurement affect rates and predictors of juvenile recidivism. Stemming from these funded research projects, Dr. Casey’s work has been published in leading journals, including Justice Quarterly, the American Journal of Criminal Justice, Crime & Delinquency, Criminology & Public Policy, Criminal Justice Policy Review, and the Handbook on Pretrial Justice. | |
