Ahjond Garmestani is a Research Scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Ph.D. in Policy Studies from Clemson University in 2006, a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 2001, a M.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Florida in 1997, and a B.A. in Anthropology from Emory University in 1993. His research interests include environmental law and policy, resilience and panarchy in complex systems, and sustainability.

Rob is the director of the Regional Dynamics & Economics Laboratory, which conducts economic and fiscal impact analysis for private and public sector clients.  Rob has taught as visiting faculty in the Master of Public Administration program and previously in taught political science at Clemson.  He received a Master of Arts in Economics and a Ph.D. in Policy Studies, with a concentration in economic development, both from Clemson University.  Prior to coming to the Thurmond Institute, he taught economics at Anderson University and Tri-County Technical College.

Jeff is the Interim Director of the Strom Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs as well as Director of the South Carolina Water Resources Center at Clemson University. As Interim Director of the Thurmond Institute he oversees all aspects of the research centers, research programs, graduate education programs and public service activities.  His work with the SCWRC involves coordinating water research with a national network of water institutes and identifying and pursuing critical water research needs for South Carolina.  Jeff has served as the principle investigator on multiple grants from government agencies and private foundations.  He has served on numerous regional and state committees and advisory councils, most recently on the South Carolina Shoreline Change Advisory Council and the Savannah River Basin Advisory Council.  He has organized and sponsored several state-wide meetings on GIS mapping and water resources and recently hosted the annual meeting of the National Institutes for Water Resources in Washington, D.C.  Jeff received his BS degree in Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources from Michigan State University and his MS degree in Geography from the University of South Carolina.  He received a Ph.D. in Policy Studies from Clemson University with an emphasis in natural resources policy.  Prior to coming to the Thurmond Institute, he worked for the S.C. Wildlife and Marine Resources Department in Columbia, SC and Clemson University’s Regional Resources Development Institute.

Anna joined the PhD program in Policy Studies in Fall 2010.  Prior to coming to Clemson, she worked in Air Quality for the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) in Charleston, SC.  She holds an MA in Geography from East Carolina University and a BS in Environmental and Natural Resources from Clemson University.  Her research interests include environmental and natural resource policy, water conflict, and water supply issues.
