CBSHS, CAFLS, CECAS, Business faculty named new School of Health Research faculty scholars

The Clemson University School of Health Research has 10 newly appointed faculty scholars from across four colleges in the University. 
Faculty scholars serve as leaders in health research, teaching and service, and together are growing the Clemson University’s research focus on health innovation.  The new faculty scholars research interests’ span from cancer care to gluten intolerance to virtual reality for pain management and the impact of wellness programs.

Clemson students, faculty developing adaptive sports, promoting inclusive recreation in Thailand

Faculty and students from Clemson University will partner with the Institute for Physical Education in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to implement the Adaptive Sports for Social Change project. This project will provide content knowledge on adaptive sports to more than 40 physical education students in Thailand, as well as firsthand experience implementing these sports with individuals with disabilities.

The League of American Bicyclists has moved Clemson University to silver status on its lists of Bicycle Friendly Universities. Silver status universities welcome cyclists, encourage cycling culture and provide opportunities for travel via cycling, according to the league.

Clemson establishes parks lab to examine social, human issues in parks, protected areas

Clemson faculty have established the Park Solutions Lab on campus to study the social aspects and human dimensions of issues related to parks and protected areas. The lab will allow faculty to benefit from a physical space that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of capturing data related to visitor use and human-environment interactions. Learn more about how the department’s increased research productivity in this area made a physical lab space a natural next step.

Researchers use Clemson football memories to tackle dementia

Researchers from Clemson University are using football to battle the persistent damage brought on by dementia. Faculty and graduate student researchers are studying the effectiveness of a reminiscence therapy program that uses memories associated with Clemson football to address many of the debilitating effects of dementia. PRTM Faculty Receive Clemson Caribbean Inititative Grant

The Clemson Caribbean Initiative (CCI) has awarded five interdisciplinary seed grants totaling $50,000 to teams of Clemson faculty to help advance their research and scholarship, teaching and service in the Caribbean region. Lauren Duffy, Will Culler, Lori Dickes, and Gwynn Powell collaborated with other Clemson Faculty to receive one of five Caribbean Initiative interdisciplinary seed grants. They will conduct a project that includes the development of research collaborations and technical exchanges related to sustainable agriculture, tourism, and sustainability policy in Cuba. Read more

Clemson promotes diversity in sport through golf camp for African American women

Clemson’s PGA golf management program promoted academic and sports diversity through a golf camp designed for African American women. The camp ran from June 26 thru June 30th and hosted nine high school students from across the country interested in higher education academics and sports. Read more>>>
