Profile

Dr. Petersheim is a Visiting Lecturer of Political Science at Clemson University. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science at the University at Buffalo in 2010. Her main research areas include international organizations, political economy, and bridging the gap between domestic and international politics. Her research has focused the effect of foreign direct investment on regionalism, the role the European Union has had in promoting democracy, and the evaluation of the Eurozone's policies on combating corruption in Europe. Her work has been published in the Journal of European Integration and American Politics Research. Dr. Petersheim enjoys teaching classes in International Relations, Comparative Politics, American Politics, and Research Methods. She is a charter member of the Winthrop Women's Coalition. Dr. Petersheim has previously served as Secretary, New Membership Chair, and Newsletter Editor for the National Women's Caucus for Political Science and will continue to fulfill the role of Newsletter Editor of the National Women's Caucus for Political Science for the 2023-2024 year. She was the 2015 recipient of the Jenny Mansbridge Award, an award given to extraordinary individuals who perform service above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of the WCPS and to advance opportunities for women in general.

Research Interests

Dr. Petersheim's main research areas include international organizations, political economy, and bridging the gap between domestic and international politics.
