Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies
Dr. Brad Putman
Putman is an alumnus of Clemson University, having completed his undergraduate and graduate work here in civil engineering. His research interests focus on transportation infrastructure, with particular emphasis on making various paving materials more durable and more environmentally friendly. In addition to serving as an associate professor of civil engineering, Putman was the director of outreach and EMAGINE initiatives for the college, inspiring young students in South Carolina to see the impact they can have in engineering and technical careers.

As the associate dean for undergraduate studies, Dr. Brad Putman brings a wealth of experience to the position that will be invaluable as he works with CECAS undergraduates in planning their academic journey. He is an alumnus of Clemson University, having completed his undergraduate and graduate work here in civil engineering. His research interests focus on transportation infrastructure, with particular emphasis on making various paving materials more durable and more environmentally friendly. He is an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers as well as the National Science Teachers Association and the American Society of Engineering Education. His experience as a student, faculty member, researcher, and administrator gives him a unique perspective that will make him a valued resource for the college’s undergraduates.
Reporting to the dean of the college, the associate dean of undergraduate studies oversees the undergraduate curriculum, including final approval for new courses and major changes to existing courses.
