Undergraduate Information

Along with all Clemson offices, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on campus is physically closed, however, our staff continues to work remotely, and we are prepared and ready to assist you.

We encourage prospective and admitted undergraduate students to reach out to us at cuadmissions@clemson.edu. Prospective undergraduate students can also contact the admissions counselor for their state or region directly.

We are actively developing ways to virtually engage with prospective and admitted undergraduate students and will share those here as they become available. We are committed to providing you with the best possible information and resources and are eager to support you however we can during this time of uncertainty.

Virtual Office Hours

Join Undergraduate Admissions counselors for Virtual Office Hours on Zoom. Counselors will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Zoom platform.

In order to participate, you will need a computer or mobile device, along with a strong internet connection. We also recommend that you download Zoom ahead of the information session.

General Undergraduate Admissions Information

Are the offices at Clemson University open?

No. Offices at Clemson University are not available for visitors through normal face-to-face contact. This closure is part of the state of South Carolina’s effort to mitigate residents’ exposure to COVID-19, Gov. Henry McMaster ordered the closure of colleges and universities through March 31. However, Admissions staff are working remotely and remain eager to support you. Please contact us at cuadmissions@clemson.edu.

Are you processing applications?

Yes. As of now, all admissions functions are being carried out remotely. We are continuing with our current timeline and decisions are still being processed.

Will admissions decisions be delayed?

The Admissions team is working diligently to make sure we notify students of their admissions decisions in a timely manner.

Will extensions be allowed for final transcripts?

We will be working with students to ensure we have the documents we need without creating additional stress. Please reach out to us at cuadmissions@clemson.edu if this situation applies to you and we will work with you individually.

My school is closed right now. Can I submit an unofficial transcript?

If you are not able to get official copies of your transcript or other documents sent at this time, please reach out to us at cuadmissions@clemson.edu as soon as possible and we will work with you to get the required information.

My SAT/ACT test date has been cancelled. Can I still apply for fall 2020 admission?

Please reach out to us at cuadmissions@clemson.edu if this situation applies to you and we will work with you individually.

Admitted Undergraduate Student Information

How can I learn more about your campus even though I can’t visit right now?

We are actively planning a variety of new opportunities to connect virtually with admitted students. The University website and social media are great resources for students in the meantime. Keep checking back to this page for updates!

Will the May 1 deadline be extended?

We know this is a time of great uncertainty, and we are eager to support you. We will work with students on the enrollment deadline on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to your Admissions Counselor or to cuadmissions@clemson.edu.

Events and Visits

Can I schedule a future visit?

Yes, you can schedule a future visit. Please note that all University events, programs and activities have been suspended through May 8. Upcoming campus visit schedules are available at clemson.edu/visit.

I was planning to attend an off-campus event. Is that canceled?

All University events, programs and activities have been suspended through May 8.

Have college fairs and school visits been impacted?

Yes. For the safety of both Clemson staff and prospective students, we have suspended travel for the spring semester. We will do our best to communicate with students to answer any questions that you have about Clemson or our admissions process.

Are there other ways to learn more about Clemson since visits are cancelled?

We are actively planning a variety of new opportunities to connect virtually. The University website and University Instagram account are great resources for students in the meantime.

Can I come to campus even though events are cancelled?

No. While we have a public campus, our closure is to minimize the number of people on our campus in order to help combat the spread of COVID-19. We encourage you to reschedule your visit when our programs and events resume.

Will Orientation be affected?

Online registration for summer orientation sessions is postponed until further notice. The Orientation team is finalizing plans for the summer and fall, and look forward to providing students an amazing transition experience. Thank you for your patience. Check the Orientation site periodically for updates or contact orientation@clemson.edu with questions.

Counselors

Clemson representatives were scheduled to visit my campus this spring. Will you still be visiting?

No. For the safety of both Clemson staff and prospective students, we have suspended travel for the spring semester. We will do our best to communicate with you and your students to answer any questions that you have about Clemson or our admissions process.

Will your file processing be delayed?

We do not anticipate delays in our file processing as we are doing our best to continue operations while working remotely.

How will your office support students during this time?

International Undergraduate Students

If my country has been affected by COVID-19, will I still be allowed to attend Clemson?

Clemson is still accepting, reviewing and making decisions for all international applicants. We continue to welcome students from around the world but are closely monitoring the situations and will adhere to any decisions made by the U.S. government.

If I’m not able to attend Clemson this fall, can I defer my admission?

Absolutely. If you have already been admitted to Clemson, we can defer your entry term to Spring 2021 or Fall 2021. If you do not attend another university during that time, your admissions decision should remain the same. Should you enroll in another university during that time, you will have to reapply as a transfer student. If you are still in the middle of the application process and have not received a decision yet, you will need to submit a new application for a different entry term. We can provide a fee waiver code for you so that you do not have to pay the application fee again. Please reach out to us at cuadmissions@clemson.edu if this situation applies to you.

I am an international student worker. Can I return to my home country and continue my work duties?

No. International travel affiliated with the University is prohibited and personal travel is discouraged at this time. All international student workers should consult with their supervisors before conducting any work activities outside the United States. Anyone who chooses to travel from or through areas where community transmission has been confirmed by CDC or areas otherwise subject to travel restrictions, will not be allowed to access any university-controlled property for 14 days from the date of their return.

We understand that schools around the world have been affected by COVID-19, so we are doing everything we can to work with students. We will be flexible and work closely with students and institutions to ensure we have the documents we need without creating additional stress. My current school closed. Will you accept an unofficial transcript?

We can accept an unofficial transcript in order to complete your application and make a preliminary admissions decision. We will need to receive a final official transcript prior to your enrollment at Clemson.

When will I receive my I-20?

We are continuing to issue I-20’s as students are admitted to Clemson University. Once a student is admitted to Clemson, they should receive an email from International Services specifying what needs to be provided in order to receive the I-20 form. Once they receive this email, they are encouraged to contact is@clemson.edu with any questions.

Graduate Applicants

Will extensions be made to application deadlines?

If you are not able to meet your program deadline, please contact your program of interest to request an extension.

My GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS/PTE test date has been cancelled. Will I still be considered for admission?

If you are not able to take a required standardized test, please contact your program of interest to let them know. Some alternatives: ETS At-Home-Testing for the GRE and TOEFL is available for test-takers in certain countries. The Duolingo English Exam can be taken in lieu of the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE. It is administered completely online. We require a minimum of 115.

Are you processing applications?

Yes, Clemson’s graduate programs continue to review applications and make admissions recommendations to the Graduate School. The Graduate School continues to process decisions and issue decision letters.

Are I-20s still being issued?

International Services continues to issue I-20s. Questions related to visas can be directed to is@clemson.edu.

If I am not able to attend Clemson this Summer or Fall, can I defer my start term?

Yes, if you need to defer your start term for any reason, you may do so by sending a request to your program of interest.

I have questions about my obtaining my I-20 and visa.

International Services continues to issue I-20’s. Questions related to visas can be directed to is@clemson.edu.

My current school is closed. When do I need to provide final-official transcripts?

Graduate applications are reviewed with unofficial transcripts. Once admitted, we require final official transcripts. These can be provided during your first term of enrollment, once your institution is open again.

Do you accept official transcripts electronically?

Yes. We strongly recommend sending official transcripts electronically/digitally, if this is an option for you. Final official electronic transcripts can be sent directly from your institution or via an approved digital service provider, such as Parchment, eSCRIPT, and Clearinghouse. Choose "Clemson University Graduate School" from the list of school choices or have them sent to gstranscripts@clemson.edu. International students may use the CertiFile service to request official international transcripts. This service is available through the Application Portal, under "Manage Your Account".
