The College of Education’s Founding Dean, George Petersen, initiated the Dean’s Leadership Institute during summer 2019. Nominated and selected members engage in ongoing self-discovery and growth as a faculty or staff member, develop a deeper understanding of leadership principles and apply them within their own context, and gain a broader perspective of the issues and opportunities facing our college, university, and state. During the monthly sessions, guest speakers include key administrators, both internally and externally.
One goal of the Dean’s Leadership Institute is to provide an awareness of the context within and outside of Clemson’s College of Education. Members expand their knowledge about organizational culture, the distinctive cultures within colleges, universities, and state agencies, and how to lead change in these contexts. Another goal is to develop leaders within our College for both informal and formal leadership roles.
