Clemson Career Workshop

The Clemson Career Workshop is a summer program designed to support readiness of high-achieving students from diverse populations to enter college. The Clemson Career Workshop enables rising high school seniors an opportunity to get an inside look into Clemson University while learning tips and tools needed to prepare for college and beyond. Furthermore, the Clemson Career Workshop provides students exposure to areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, arts and humanities, and social and behavioral sciences.

  • Program Overview

    What the program includes

    • Room and board in a residence hall
    • Academic sessions with Clemson faculty
    • Experiential learning opportunities
    • Sessions on college preparation and life skills
    • Interact with Clemson students, faculty, staff, and alumni

    Eligibility requirements

      • A current high school junior who will be a high school senior during the 2017-2018 academic year
      • Ranked in the top 20% of your class
      • Committed to stay the entire length of the program

    Program fee

      • The fee is $100 if accepted into the program

    Application requirements

        • A completed online application
          • Be prepared to answer the following questions in the online application:
            • Describe a time where you had to interact with someone different from yourself. What was the situation and what did you learn from the interaction (150 words or more).
            • Why should you be selected for the Clemson Career Workshop?

          • Unofficial or official High school transcript with class rank included
            • Email your transcript to or mail it to the following address:

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    • When is the program? The program is Sunday, July 9 - Friday, July 14, 2017 at Clemson University.
    • Who is eligible to apply? Any student who will be a senior in the 2017-2018 academic year are eligible to apply.
    • What if my high school does not a class rank? You can still apply to the program. We will calculate your class rank with the information on your transcript.
    • What if I don’t live in South Carolina? You do not have to be a resident of South Carolina to participate in the program.
    • What happens after I apply? Applications will be reviewed. You will receive an email of acceptance or non-acceptance in the program the first week in May. If you are accepted into the program, you will receive additional information to secure your seat.
    • What if I cannot afford the $100 program fee? Please do not let the fee discourage you to apply. Limited scholarships will be available for students based on financial need. You will receive this information if you are accepted into the program.
    • Will there be other expenses after the $100 program fee? No. You will not incur any other fees during the time of the program. However, you are responsible for your own travel to get to and from Clemson University.
    • Do I get credit for the academic sessions? There is no course credit. Academic session give you a glimpse into the Clemson classroom experience and exposure to our amazing faculty.
    • Do I have to be interested in STEM areas to apply? No. We encourage all to apply. While the academic sessions in STEM are a priority, there will be other courses added based on demand.
  • Counselor Application Process

    Work Dates: Friday, July 7 - Friday, July 14, 2017

    Counselor Position Description
    The Clemson Career Workshop Counselors will be responsible for leading and mentoring the students through a fun, educational experience. Counselors will be expected to:

    • Serve as a leader and mentor to students
    • Assist in the planning of student activities
    • Serve as an active participant in activities
    • Escort the students to their sessions and activities
    • Supervise students when they are in the residence halls
    • Respond to emergencies that involve Clemson Career Workshop students or staff

    Required Qualifications

    • A current Clemson student in good academic standing or a recent Clemson graduate
    • Be willing to stay in the residence halls every night of the program
    • Experience working with youth

    All interested, qualified students should complete the following by April 17, 2017:

    • A completed application
    • Two Counselor Recommendation Forms (form included in the application)
    • Unofficial transcript
    • Resume
