Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a list of things your office does and does not handle for faculty and staff?

Our office can produce a wide variety of material, but due to University and dean’s office priorities, we cannot always guarantee every kind of deliverable for every request. In order to streamline our work, we have determined the best and/or most efficient course of action for common requests of our office. We encourage you to take a look at the “Deliverables Guide” below as a general guide to what tasks we always, commonly, infrequently or do not perform for a given request.

    Deliverables Guide

  • Does COE MarCom create research websites?

Per the associate dean for research and graduate studies, we can include information on certain grant awards in our “Funded Research” page, but our office does not have the capacity to handle the creation of full websites for research or grant-funded work. Research sites should be planned for and funded through the grant agency. Space on the web for researchers is available on Clemson blogs, and information on freelance web developers can be provided. Please contact Kasi Hubbard for more information.

  • What is the typical turnaround time for graphic design projects?

This depends on many factors, including the type of project, time of year, the current workload of our office, and dean’s office priorities. In general a design project can be turned around in about a week.

It's essential to communicate your project timeline and expectations clearly with our team to ensure that we can accommodate your schedule. Factors such as the number of revisions needed and the clarity of the project brief can also influence the turnaround time. Collaborating closely with the designer and providing timely feedback can contribute to a more efficient and successful project completion.

  • My program or event needs a one pager. Should I create one myself?

Almost all undergraduate and graduate programs have existing one pagers. For undergraduate one pagers, please contact the director of undergraduate student services. For graduate one pagers, please contact the director of graduate student services. If a new one pager or edits are required, the staff in these positions will loop in our office to create or update them.

For internal-facing events, our office can supply you with wordmarks, recommended fonts and advise on design for flyers or graphics created by faculty, staff and students. For external-facing events, please contact us as early as possible so that we can route your request appropriately.

  • How is the College of Education’s website maintained and updated?

The College of Education website is maintained and updated by our web manager, Kasi Hubbard.

For optimal efficiency, we request that edits be submitted in a well organized Word document. Generally, we aim to address web edits within a few days, but the timeline may extend beyond that, considering the need for thorough and accurate implementation. If you have specific deadlines or urgent updates, please communicate them, and we'll do our best to accommodate your timeline.

We perform regular content updates to keep our website current. This involves updating information, adding new content, and removing outdated or irrelevant material. Should you identify any outdated information on the site, we encourage you to reach out to Kasi.

  • How can departments and student organizations collaborate with the marketing team for event promotion?

A department chair or, in the case of a student organization, a faculty or staff advisor can reach out to our team either individually or via coepr@clemon.edu to provide event details and outline the need.

  • What is included in the College newsletter?

The COE newsletter is released every other month and includes news stories from our College, calls to action for alumni, video content, student features, media mentions, and upcoming virtual information sessions. This newsletter is also sent separately to a college-maintained list of partners and friends. Newsletter content is determined by the MarCom and the dean’s office from existing materials created month to month. For an example of this newsletter, visit the link below:

Faculty and Staff Achievements

One of our office’s primary objectives is to communicate the excellence of College faculty and staff and to keep stakeholders up to date on achievements. If you have an award or organizational appointment to report or a journal article or book publication that has just published or will soon publish, please fill out the form below to tell us more. Our office can produce graphics that you can share via your own personal networks, and, in coordination with College leadership, we can share these achievements as well via College–and in some cases, University-level–social media and via our website. Faculty and staff achievements will also be considered for communication via our alumni newsletter.

The decision to share via College social or the web is made through coordination of our office with the dean. During busier times of the year, our office reserves the right to prioritize how many graphics are produced by our office and the frequency of production.

Clemson University Marketing and Communications

In Fall 2022, Clemson University established Clemson University Marketing and Communications, a new division comprised of team members across the University working collaboratively to improve the visibility and protect the reputation of the Clemson brand. College public relations and communications teams are a part of this division, but in most cases are embedded within Colleges in order to better serve College leadership, faculty and staff and its mission and vision. The College of Education Office of Marketing and Communications is one such office; although we produce the vast majority of content for the College, being a part of the larger, centralized Marketing and Communications team allows our College to better tap into resources on the University level.
