Course Fee and Structure:
The registration fee for this course is $300.00 per person. This includes a South Carolina Master Gardener manual and access to our online resources. Please do NOT purchase a manual separately as one will be sent to you.
All participants who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate in "Home Horticulture". In order to earn the Home Horticulture certificate, you must pass all 12 quizzes (one per module) with a grade of 7 or higher and complete 12 of the activities (one per module). You do not need to take the final exam in order to receive the Home Horticulture certificate; the final exam is optional.
To receive certification as a Clemson Extension Master Gardener requires additional work -- passing a statewide exam and fulfillment of the volunteer service component of the program in a Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service Office. Please review the volunteer requirements for each county before signing up if you wish to become a Certified Master Gardener.
The course is organized in modules that relate to topics presented in the SC Master Gardener manual. Modules contain relevant reading, instruction (via expert videos), discussion, quizzes and activities you can do around your home. You will receive a copy of the South Carolina Master Gardener manual before the start of the course.
A new module is released each week of the 12-week program and remains open until the end of the course. Each module requires about 6 hours to complete and there are 12 modules for a total commitment of 72 hours of course time.
NOTE: If you do not have regular computer access, do not have a reliable high-speed internet service provider (no dial-up), and do not have reasonable computer skills, please do not register for this training. We do not provide computer support to participants. Registration for this online course is not transferable to another person, to another online course, nor to a face-to-face Master Gardener class offered by the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service or any other university Extension service. Failure on your part to keep up with the online program in which you enrolled does not grant you any rights to future access or future courses. This course is not for college or continuing education credit.
Registration for the Spring 2018 will be available in late January.
