Office of Resource Efficiency and Process Improvement

Process Improvement Tools

These tools apply to resource efficiency and process improvement projects being implemented at Clemson. Please use these resources to aid in improvement projects. The following tools are used to propose or document the progress of a project.

Proposing a Project:

The Executive Summary is a form that must be filled out and submitted in order for a project to receive sponsor approval. The document includes instructions for proper submission. This step is required for any process improvement projects.

Individual Projects:

Use the Project Overview Template to create a project summary to be used as a method of tracking the project's progress in terms of its original plan. The instructions for the template explain how to use the project overview spreadsheet most effectively.

Multiple Projects:

When dealing with several projects at once, the Project Savings Summary excel spreadsheet can be used to calculate savings types of multiple projects. Use the sample savings worksheet, Work Order Processing, as an example. This sample worksheet will clarify many questions about REPI savings worksheets.

Tracking Progress:

Several tools are available to help in tracking the progress of a process improvement project. The Solution Tracker template organizes general information about projects and details what actions are needed in order to complete the project. A Scorecard Template lists the milestones of a project and focuses on creating an update that can be used for an executive update. If dealing with multiple projects at a time the Portfolio Status Snapshot is a blank form used to track the current status of multiple process improvement projects in one document.
