Changing your Major or Declaring a Minor

Changing your Major

If you are planning on changing your major (or switching from a BS to BA, or vice versa), you will need to complete the Change of Academic Program Form.

Steps for Completion:

  1. Fill out Box 1 with your name and XID number (starts with a 'C').
  2. Complete the gray box in Box 2 with an advisor in your new major.
    1. Make sure to include your catalog year, which can be found in DegreeWorks on your transcript. It is the first academic year you started at Clemson.
    2. If you are declaring a double major or dual degree, you will also need to complete the white box on the right side with information on your second major or second degree.
    3. The primary advisor will be your new advisor in your new major.
  3. Provide your signature in Box 3.
  4. The new major advisor must sign you in at the bottom of the sheet in Box 3
  5. The major you are leaving can then sign you out in Box 3.
  6. The complete form is taken to 104 Sikes Hall.

Declaring a Minor

Students completing a Bachelor of Arts are required to declare and complete a minor field of study. In order to declare a minor, a student must complete the Change of Academic Program Form.

Steps for Completion:

    1. Fill out Box 1 with your name and XID number (starts with a 'C').
    2. Complete all of the gray box in Box 2 with your academic advisor, and include your new minor on the "Minor" line. Again, make sure to include your catalog year.
    3. Provide your signature in Box 3.
    4. Your academic advisor will sign in Box 3, on the first line denoted for an advisor (leave the "Former Dept." section blank).
    5. The complete form is taken to 104 Sikes Hall.
