Mar 11-13, 2013: Dr. Summers presents two papers from the CEDAR lab: pre-sketching as an ideation warm-up and low fidelity assembly model time estimations. Both papers are well received, with requests for more details in both the software and the experimentation. conference site

Mar 5, 2013: Dr. Summers gave a guest seminar lecture on "complexity in engineering design" to the Open University in Milton Keynes, UK. He also participated in a "meet the author" seminar with the design graduate students, talking about his paper on requirements evolution. on-line

Jan 21, 2013: Dr. Summers participates in a "Public Engagement" conference at Grenoble University and talks about the morality and ethics of outreach and publication. on-line

Dec 04, 2012: Welcome to Dr. Mary Beth Kurz, the newest faculty member of the CEDAR lab. She and her students will begin integration into CEDAR in the Spring 2013 semester. This is an exciting step in the growth of our collaborative research community.

July 10, 2008: The low temperature lunar wheel endurance testing chamber is installed and operational at JPL. Tomorrow we will be lowering the temperature and conducting our first dynamic cold test. Students (B. Morkos, S. Anandan, A. Kanda, D. Stowe) should be commended for their success in designing the system an entire continent away from where it is installed.

July 9, 2008: Dr. Summers and Beshoy Morkos travel to Pasadena, CA to JPL to install the cold chamber road wheel. We will be gone from Wed. afternoon until Sat. morning, but will be in e-mail contact.

June 04, 2008: Sudhakar Teegavarapu will defend his dissertation proposal on Tuesday, June 10th, at 8:30 am in EIB 215. All are invited to the defense to support their labmate and to see how a dissertation defense is handled.

May 10, 2008: Congratulations to AiD Group members, Marisa Orr and Matthew Torok, who were granted the South Carolina Space Grant Consortium Fellowships (Graduate and Undergraduate respectively).

May 9, 2008: Congratulations to Beshoy Morkos for graduating with his MS degree today. He is continuing his graduate studies in the AiD Group, pursuing a PHD in requirements modeling.

May 1, 2008: AiD Group members attend "Paws for Safety". Dr. Summers, Ajit Kanda, and Stuart Miller explained engineering issues addressed for space exploration. The Lunar Wheel concepts and testing equipment were demonstrated.

Rachel Hannah is working as a graduate intern at Duke Energy during the 2008 Summer session.

Beshoy Morkos is working as a graduate intern at BMW ITRC (Information Technology Research Center) developing new interactive software for BMW Sales with the Microsoft Surface during the 2008 Summer session. Stuart Miller is working as a graduate intern at Ryobi during the 2008 Summer session.

David Stowe presented the Clemson Lunar Team’s work on development of a Lunar Non-Pneumatic Wheel at the ASME IDETC/CIE Conference in Brooklyn, NY in August.

Sudhakar Teegavarapu presented research on undergraduate design tool use in the curriculum at the ASME IDETC/CIE Conference in Brooklyn, NY in August.
