Dr. Harsh Sapra joined Clemson University in January 2025 as an Assistant Professor, after his tenure as a research scientist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He completed his Master’s and Ph.D. at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where his doctoral research focused on developing combined solid oxide fuel cell and gas engine systems for maritime power generation.

Sapra’s research group focuses on a combination of experimental, high-fidelity, and data-driven modeling approaches to advance energy and transportation systems. His research interests include battery degradation, battery safety (thermal runaway), advanced combustion technologies with alternative fuels, and hybrid energy systems for ground, marine, and aerial applications.

He has published more than 20 research articles in leading international conferences and journals and is the recipient of four international research awards, including best talk at IMAREST BeNelux 2019 and most valuable technical-track papers at ASME ICEF conferences in 2019 and 2022. Dr. Sapra is a member of SAE, a distinguished associate member of the ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division and serves as a Young Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Applied Energy.
