Biography

Dr. Anne Pressley graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English followed by a Master's in Education from Converse College. She received administrative certification and a Specialist's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Converse and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Pressley taught secondary ELA for nine years. After leaving the classroom, she served as an instructional coach and assistant principal for instruction in Greenville County School District. She has worked at the district level as Director of Teaching and Learning for Beaufort County School District and Director of Academic Support Services for Greenville County School District. Prior to joining the State Department of Education as Director of the Office of Standards and Learning, Dr. Pressley served as Executive Director of Carolina Alliance for Technology, a Youth Career Connect Grant for consortium of three school districts: Laurens District 55, Laurens District 56, and Richland District 2. In this capacity she supported development and implementation of Project Based Learning and STEAM initiatives in four cooperating high schools.
