Dr. Abadi joined the department in 2025, following prior appointments as an Assistant Professor at Michigan Technological University and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on nanocomposites, mechanics, and their applications in structural components, tissue engineering, and medical devices. Her team investigates the process–structure–property relationships in the advanced manufacturing of nanocomposites, particularly through techniques such as 3D printing. She is especially interested in conductive nanomaterials—including one-dimensional and two-dimensional carbon-based materials and MXenes—due to their distinctive morphological, mechanical, and electrical properties.
