Install Mac Software

To download and install available software, please click on the Clemson University Mac OS X Software Installer link below and run the selected installer. Please note, you should be running Mac OS X 10.5.4 or higher for proper operation of the installers. (Click the Apple Logo in the top, left corner of your screen and select "About This Mac" to see the Mac OS X version number. If lower than 10.5.4, select "Software Update" under the Apple logo in the same menu)

These installers should be run from an ON-CAMPUS, WIRED network connection only. They will NOT function from off-campus.

This installer is compatible for both Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) & 10.6 (Snow Leopard) systems.

Wireless Installer for Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6

CCIT has a wireless installer for Mac OS X (requires 10.5.4 or higher) which will assist users with the installation of Tigernet wireless on their Macintosh computers. If you are using an earlier version of Mac OS X, please refer to the manual setup instructions located here.

Note the following items before using the installer:

  • Your computer must be Mac OS X 10.5.4 or higher to use this installer.
  • Users are required to have a valid Clemson Userid and password in order for the installer to work correctly.
  • Wireless passwords are CASE-sensitive.
  • Users must know their Mac password to run the installer. (Password created by user during original setup of the computer)
  • This installer must be run from a WIRED, ON-CAMPUS CONNECTION (*exception for MacBook Air) and within range of a wireless access point to authenticate to the wireless system.
  • This installer removes CUAIRNET and CLEMSONGUEST connections as part of its installation process.
  • This installer will clean-up any settings from a previous attempt to connect to tigernet (i.e. it will fixed a botched connection). It can also be used to reset your network password or change the user account being used for the connection to the wireless network. If you have multiple user accounts on the computer, it must be run separately for each account.

Install Windows on a Mac (Compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6)

These installers should be run from an ON-CAMPUS, WIRED network connection only. They will NOT function from off-campus.

This installer will setup Windows Vista SP1 as a dual-boot on your Mac. This allows you to restart your computer (while holding down the 'option' key) and run Windows Vista in order to utilize Windows-only applications.

This installer creates a default partition size for Vista of 40 GB. If you require a different size partition, select the 'Customize' button while running the installer and check the appropriate options.

This installer requires an Intel-based Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. Certain model MacBooks will require that Windows Updates be run to correctly install the video drivers.

Total time for installation: 45-60 minutes

The Windows Vista Software Installer for Mac includes the following software:

Instructions

When the Vista installer finishes, you will need to reboot your computer. WHEN YOU REBOOT, as soon as your screen goes black, press and hold the option key (the option key will either be labeled with the word "option", "alt", or the symbol ).

Once the Apple logo appears on your screen (see below) you can let go of the option key.


You should see a two disk icons, one labeled "Macintosh HD" (or something similar) and one labeled "Windows". Click on the Windows icon and then click on the arrow underneath it to boot into Vista.


You will have to repeat this procedure every time your machine reboots to boot in to Vista. During the course of the Windows installation, the machine will reboot several times. After Vista is installed, it will download and install several Windows updates - this process can take as long as 30 minutes.
