Lan Zhang is the Warren H. Owen Assistant Professor in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University. Before joining Clemson University, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Her research spans distributed and collaborative machine learning, wireless communications and networking, cybersecurity, human–AI collaboration, Internet-of-Things (IoT) systems, and cyber-physical systems.
She is the recipient of several honors, including the NSF CAREER Award, the NSF CISE Research Initiation Initiative (CRII) Award, the IEEE TETCI Outstanding Paper Award, and the Michigan Tech Research Excellence Fund Award. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the State of South Carolina, Clemson University, Michigan Technological University, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Zhang serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. She also contributes to the research community through NSF review panels, conference program committees, and peer review for leading journals and conferences.
