Mission
This department
enforces state and federal animal health laws and regulations,
and protects animal and public health through control of endemic,
foreign, and emerging diseases. It coordinates animal emergency
response planning for the state, addressing both natural and man
made disasters.
What We Do
Animal Health
Programs provide protection to the animal population as well as
humans. This department is responsible for the enforcement of
state and federal animal health laws and regulations designed
to protect animal health. The programs regulate testing and movement
of livestock and poultry, auction markets, sales, and all animal
disease control programs in our state. These programs are under
the guidance of the State Veterinarian and in coordination with
the USDA, APHIS, and VS.
