What is Outlook Anywhere Outlook Anywhere is a way of configuring Outlook to connect to Exchange whether it is on campus or off campus. This also means that the VPN is not required to check mail from off campus. Below are steps for configuring Exchange Anywhere. Outlook Anywhere 2007 and 2010 Setup ForOn and Off Campus Make sure Outlook is closed. Go toStart Control panel.If it has not been done, you will need to switchthe View by: in the top right to Small icons. Doubleclick on the andldquoMailandrdquo Icon. Click the andldquoShow Profilesandrdquo button. Add a new profile Click the andldquoAddandrdquo button. Name your new Exchange Profile andldquoClemson Exchangeandrdquo. Check the box for Manually Configure, and click Next. Select the Microsoft Exchange option, and click Next. Use this info for the corresponding boxes.Microsoft Exchange server: xmail.clemson.eduUser Name: Your UserID ex:jernig5DO NOT CLICK CHECK NAMEClick the andldquoMore Settingsandrdquo button. If you are directly connected to Clemsonandrsquos campus network, or using Clemson VPN you may be prompted for your credentials.If not, you can skip to step 13.Enter your User Name and password in this format Example User Name is andldquojernig5andrdquo:campusjernig5 If you are at home or on a remote network Proceed to Step 12. If you are located on Campus, go to Step 13. If you are off campus you may see the following error message. It is normal. After clicking OK on this box, you may need to wait up to 1 minute before the next box will open. This depends on your computers speed and your Internet connection.Click CANCEL on this box. In the Connection tab at the top, click the box for Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP. Then click the andldquoExchange Proxy Settingsandhellipandrdquo button. Use this info for the corresponding boxes:Connect URL https:// boxxmail.clemson.eduConnect using SSL Only CheckedOnly connect to Proxy Serversandhellip.. Checkedmsstd:xmail.clemson.eduOn Fast networks, connectandhellip. CheckedOn slow networks, connectandhellip CheckedProxy authentication settingsUse andldquoNTLM Authenticationandrdquo Preferred settingClick OKon this window an then OK on the previous window. If you have entered all your information correctly, click Next. If you are asked to log in, use the same campususername format as shown in step 10. Click Finish and youandrsquore done Start Outlook, It will prompt you for a User Name and Password. Enter your User Name and password in this format Example User Name is andldquookeefeandrdquo:CampusokeefeClick OK. Basic Troubleshooting. Common Setup Errors User ID Error: This error can be caused by two things: One, the more common reason is due to forwarding not being enabled properly. Forwarding can be corrected at the following web page: http://www.clemson.edu/emailforwarding/ Two, the user ID or Name is not spelled correctly, or does not match what is in the Global address list. Network Name error: This is a connectivity type error. It could be due to a typo in the server name, DNS look up issue or lack of proper connectivity with your computer. Other than a typo, your consultant/Tech should help diagnose this issue. Checking connectivity Step1: To check your Connection Status, hold down the Control Key on your keyboard while rightclicking the Outlook Icon on your task bar. next to your clock Step2: You should see something very similar to this. The andldquoConnandrdquo column should read HTTPS The Status column should read Established
