Focus Groups

In some instances, a traditional survey may not produce the data needed to facilitate continuous improvement.  Focus groups can be excellent resources when attempting to learn more about the experiences, perceptions, and emotions of a specific population. For the purpose of assessment in higher education, focus groups can be used for planning (e.g., quality improvement, policy creation, advertising campaigns) or for evaluating (e.g., student satisfaction, employee/student engagement, organizational development).
