Infrastructure

CEI organizes and supports activities to foster interdisciplinary environmental research at Clemson University. In collaboration with the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES), CEI provides and maintains state-of-the-art infrastructure for environmental research at Clemson University. The infrastructure maintained by CEI and EEES provides various resources to Clemson University researchers and students. There are several significant benefits attributable to this state-of-art research infrastructure:

  • Researchers across campus can access the instruments/equipment by including the user fees approved by the University Comptroller in their research proposals.
  • This infrastructure gives resources to Clemson University faculty in different departments to prepare interdisciplinary research proposals. The display of research infrastructure on the web page leads to industry partnerships and research projects: EEES Laboratory Equipment and Infrastructure
  • Students across the campus contact CEI and/or EEES to access the research instruments/equipment. These requests are accommodated based on the availability of instrument/equipment time with coordination through the EEES Laboratory Manager. This is one of the ways that CEI also supports student research and education at Clemson University. After evaluating the requests on a case-by-case basis, CEI may waive the user fees for student research projects. Furthermore, the EEES Laboratory Manager assists and works with students, providing proper training to them before using the analytical equipment.
