Budget 2010

Dear Clemson,  
I have approved the implementation of three new programs designed to help Clemson University reduce payroll expenses and manage our continuing budget crisis.  
They are:

  • Voluntary Furlough Program
  • Voluntary Reduction in Time Program
  • Public Service Activities Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program (this program is for PSA-funded employees only)

These new options will be announced later today in an INSIDE Clemson e-mail.  Full details will be available on the Human Resources web site.
Please read the materials carefully and consider whether any of these options would benefit you if you are eligible.  Each was suggested by several faculty and staff members in response to our call for ideas to manage the crisis.  
I’d like to thank these colleagues for their suggestions, along with the members of our human resources and legal teams who worked to make these options available. 
As I said in my budget message last week, the response to these voluntary programs will help us understand the size of our challenge next year.
