Now in its third season, Brick by Brick brings leading historians directly to the places where American history was made. Each event pairs an evening lecture with an afternoon tour of a nearby historic site — giving attendees an immersive, layered encounter with the past.

The 2026 season focuses on the American Revolution in South Carolina's Upcountry, timed to coincide with the nation's 250th anniversary. Five scholars, five sites, five Tuesday evenings from June through July.

Join us for an evening tour of two landmark sites in the Pendleton Historic District. Ashtabula, the historic plantation house of Joseph Calhoun, sits just minutes from the Gassoway Tavern, an 18th-century tavern at the heart of early Pendleton life. Tour details and meeting point to follow.

Upcountry History Museum, Greenville, SC
The series closes with an afternoon group tour of the Upcountry History Museum in Greenville — South Carolina's premier museum of Upcountry history and culture. This tour takes place in the afternoon prior to the evening lecture to accommodate museum hours. Tour timing and transportation details to follow. Pre-registration recommended.
