Responsibilities:
Nick has worked on submerged archaeological projects all along the East Coast, as well as in the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico. His Master’s research focused on the artifact assemblage recovered from a War of 1812 Flotilla vessel that operated in the Chesapeake Bay. Nick has worked with a number of state and federal departments that include North Carolina’s Underwater Archaeology Branch, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology. Nick also spent two years in the private sector working as a Nautical Archaeologist for the Cultural Resource Management firm R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc. His underwater archaeological experience ranges from work on nineteenth century sailing vessels in the inland waters of North Carolina, Civil War vessels in Charleston Harbor, to Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge. Nick specializes in artifact documentation, ship construction, and material culture analyses. In addition to his archaeological research, Nick has helped develop and teach a course in Underwater Archaeology at Clemson University.

Artifact documentation, 3D documentation and modeling, ship construction, and naval archaeology.
