Harriet Aiken
William Aiken House
The conservation of the Harriet Aiken painting and its frame has brought together the collective conservation skills of the WLCC, the Historic Charleston Foundation, and professional conservators Catherine Rodgers and Nancy Newton of Charleston, SC.
The WLCC provided space for off-site analysis and cleaning of the painting and frame restoration. The WLCC team recorded the painting using x-ray and advanced color 3D scanning techniques, creating a virtual record of the painting for documentation and educational purposes.
