The following are to be reported immediately to the State Veterinarian's office (803-788-2260) and/or USDA SC Assistant Director (803-462-2910) when diagnosed or suspected, using the SC Veterinary Reportable Disease Form.

The State Veterinarian may declare other diseases as reportable.

Reportable Diseases in SC By Clinical Signs:

Sore Mouth-Muzzle - especially if accompanied by foot, udder, vulva or skin lesions (Blisters-Vesicles)
Ex: Foot & Mouth Disease, Vesicular Stomatitis, etc.

Neurologic (strange behavior, severe depression, stumbling)

Encephalitis (CNS) Conditions in All Animals, including Birds.
Ex: Eastern, Western and Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis, West Nile Encephalitis

Other Ex:
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), Pseudorabies, Scrapie

High Death Loss – especially over a short period and in older animals past several weeks old.
Ex: Classical Swine Fever (Hog Cholera), Erysipelas, Anthrax, Acute Septicemias

Reproductive Problems (abortions, stillbirths, mummification)
Ex: Brucellosis, Pseudorabies, Contagious Equine Metritis (CEM)

Any Highly Unusual Condition – Disease or parasites differing from conditions one is familiar with.
Ex: All foreign and exotic diseases and parasites, unusual clinical signs of any kind.
