Thea McCrary Student Award for Outstanding Service

The President’s Commission on the Status of Women is proud to continue the Thea McCrary Student Award for Outstanding Service. Named after the late Captain Thea McCrary, former chair of the Women’s Commission and winner of the Outstanding Woman Award for Staff, this award encourages and promotes a female student who has demonstrated scholarship, leadership, and community service. The Thea McCrary Student Award is given to students who have the attributes to be our next generation of leaders.

Eligibility: Any female student who, during the previous academic year, has shown leadership while being engaged in community or public service, may be nominated.

Deadline: All nominations must be turned in by March 17, 2017.

Award: The recipient of this award will be granted a stipend of $500, to be presented at the Outstanding Women Awards.

Nomination requirements:

  • Female student who is enrolled full-time
  • Carry a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • One letter of nomination detailing the student’s service activities. Please send Nomination Attachment.

Named after the late Captain Thea McCrary, former chair of the Women's Commission, this award honors a female or male student who is engaged in public service or public education on matters critical to the lives of women and society in general.
