Introduction to Anthropology
ProfileCurrently I am assisting a regional African-American Upstate community present their history and preserve and protect their heritage in culturally-appropriate ways. Professionally, I serve as the chair of the Committee on Teaching Anthropology for the General Anthropology Division of the American Anthropological Association.
U.S. regional and ethnic cultures. Specific research interests include the cultural history of the SC mountains, traditional cultures in the Midwest and Carolinas, heritage tourism, gated communities, cross-cultural gender identity, ethical issues in ethnographic research, undergraduate pedagogy, prison culture.
