Scott Kaufman

SCOTT KAUFMAN is a Lab Technologist in the Machining and Technical Services' Fabrication Shop. He assists in designing and fabricating projects with faculty and students, including installing and repairing lab equipment and installing and recalibrating fume hood alarms.

LIGNIN PROJECT: Machined components for the Lignin project, which examined how a waste byproduct from the paper manufacturing industry could be converted into a useable source of energy - Dr. Mark Thies, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

SQUIRREL FEEDER PROJECT: Fabrication of on-campus squirrel sterilization feeder -Department of Forestry

SOLAR RECHARGING STATION: Assist with the fabrication of the solar recharging station

FIRE HOSE RACK: Fabricated fire hose racks for the Pickens Fire Department - City of Pickens 

COMPUTER HOLDER INSTALLATION: Installation of computer holders in CU Police vehicles - Clemson University Police

VAULT INSTALLATION: Installation of gear vaults in CU Police vehicles - Clemson University Police

SKILLS

  • Mig Welding
  • Skilled in forming metal by operating shears, press brakes, notches, ironworkers, rollers
  • Lab equipment and Vacuum pump troubleshoot, repair, and rebuilds
  • Skilled in the setup and operation of high-tech welding machines
  • Experience with setup and operation of Laser Welding
  • Consult welding practices to best serve the student and researcher in their goal of a finished product
