History and Geography

Faculty Expertise By Field

Students in the Ph.D. program choose from one of three fields: US History, World History, or European history. Clemson faculty have expertise in all three fields as well as expertise across thematic emphases. Thematically, the department has strengths in American history especially Southern History, Women, Gender and Sexuality, and the history of Colonialism and Empire. Prospective students should consider contacting both the Ph.D. program director, Douglas Seefeldt, as well as faculty with whom they may wish to collaborate if admitted.
