Group Fitness is now using an online registration system that allows you to reserve your spot in group fitness classes before you even step inside Fike Recreation Center!  Click here for more information.

Group Fitness classes are FREE to all members of Fike Recreation Center - valid ID cards must be presented for entrance. Schedules are available at the Welcome Center.


Late entry to classes is not permitted.

  • Schedule is subject to change.

  • If the university closes due to inclement weather, all fitness classes will be canceled until the university re-opens.

Fitness Class Descriptions:

Restorative Yoga: Restorative yoga seeks to achieve physical, mental, and emotional relaxation and to provide healing for the body and the mind through various stretches and strengthening poses.  Join this class to decompress and show your body some self-love! 


Relax & Roll-covery: Come rejuvenate your body after a stressful week or strenuous workout. A short warm-up, extended stretching, foam rolling techniques, and basic yoga movements will help your body recover and reduce the risk of injury. 


Yoga Flow: This class consists of a series of movements synchronized with deep breathing. Students will focus on building strength, flexibility, balance, and focus, and will leave the class feeling energized and refreshed. This class is designed for all fitness levels, so everyone is welcome


Hip-Hop Yoga: Hip-Hop Yoga is a pilates-yoga hybrid with a hip-hop flare featuring tracks from various artists; Kanye to Nicki Minaj to Salt-N-Peppa. Your heart-rate will stay up for the duration of the class with variations of vinyasa flow.


Hatha Yoga: This class is designed to increase your mental focus and awareness of your body, key components to any yoga practice.  By holding fewer poses for longer periods of time, this class sets a challenge to slow down the body and the mind to feel rejuvenated and at ease in various postures. 


Alignment Based Yoga: Appropriate for beginner and experienced yoga students, this class will focus on details of alignment to help students fine-tune their bodies.  Each class will develop around a theme and progress in a way to challenge your unique condition. 


Raise the BarreThis class combines ballet-style movements with pilates-derived exercises for a full body workout.  No prior dance experience is necessary, so just jump in and enjoy this killer core workout!


EveryBody Pilates: A class that engages the mind while sculpting the body!  Pilates utilizes a series of exercises that target the core, resulting in increased balance, flexibility, and posture, all while focusing on breathing to increase body awareness and reduce stress.  This class is designed for all levels of fitness. 


Solid COREange: This quick, 30-minute express class focuses on all-around core strength, especially the abdominal, oblique, and lower back regions. Through incorporating a variety of equipment as well as your own body weight, this class will strengthen the muscles that are the foundation of all movement. Join us for this quick but intense workout.


Total Body Fusion: Total Body Fusion is a workout that incorporates cardio AND strength! This class utilizes different formats and equipment in order to keep exercise exciting. This is a great way to break up your work day and gain energy to finish strong!


Yoga Flow (Vinyasa Flow Yoga): This class consists of a series of movements synchronized with deep breathing. Students will focus on building strength, flexibility, balance, and focus, and will leave the class feeling energized and refreshed. This class is designed for all fitness levels, so everyone is welcome! 

30-30-30: Your muscles will be surprised every week during this 90-minute class that includes three 30-minute workouts of different formats. We will post the formats on the class registration page when registration opens.  If you’re up for the challenge and an element of surprise, kick-start your weekend with a guaranteed full-body workout!


Bollywood Burn: Similar in layout to Zumba or Werk It, this class features Bollywood songs and will be a fun cardio dance class. 


BOSU Burn: Come join us for a cardio and strength class using the BOSU (BOth Sides Utilized ball!  The BOSU ball is used throughout the class to strengthen the core and all major muscle groups.


Circuit Training: 

This class includes multiple rounds of intense exercise for the upper body, lower body, and abdominals; cardio work is also incorporated. Plyometrics and dynamic movement are utilized to achieve muscle toning and body sculpting. If you want a challenge, this is the class for you!  


Howard’s Rock Bottom: This quick workout will solidify your bottom half with cardio and strength exercises focusing on your glutes, thighs, hamstrings, and calves. This is a great supplement to an individual workout or another group fitness class. 


Kettlebell Training: This class will kick your fitness goals into high gear! The kettlebell is a piece of equipment that engages your muscles with rounds of heart-pumping strength and cardio segments. This is a great class to include in your training program to make sure your muscles and mind are never bored!


Kickboxing: Hit it or quit it! This class combines typical kickboxing moves including punches, kicks, and combos to make an action-packed, super fun, and effective cardio workout!


Pedal & Pump: This class combines the benefits of Cycling and Strength Training into one awesome 60-minute class, with 30 minutes of sprints, jumps, and climbs followed by 30 minutes of strength training, all intended to tone your body from head to toe. If you want to tackle cardio and resistance training in just one workout, this is the class for you!


Power Yoga (Power Flow Yoga): Don’t like the slow nature of yoga? This class may change your mind! Power Yoga is a physically challenging class with a focus on flowing through various series of poses that raise your heart rate and make you feel like you just crushed a killer strength workout. This class will advance your practice while still building strength and increasing flexibility.


TigerPUMP: Formerly known as Total Strength, TigerPUMP is that weight training class that you’ve been looking for! The use of barbells and adjustable weights builds strength and rounds out your workout routine. Every muscle group is worked throughout the class to create a challenging but exciting workout every time.


Werk It: Werk It uses hip-hop inspired movements and routines to get your heart rate up and mix up your cardio workouts. If you’re looking for something new and exciting, join this easy-to-follow dance fitness class!

 

“All In” Tabata: Tabata-style workouts are taking the fitness world by storm! This is a high-intensity workout that incorporates 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest for 8 sessions, or ONE Tabata. This express workout packs a punch, and after a few Tabatas, you’ll definitely be feeling it!


Cycling (Sunrise Cycle, Happy Hour Cycle):  Pedal your heart out during this cardio workout which takes you through hill-climbing drills, race pace exercises, interval work, and pace pedaling to build up stamina, while simultaneously sculpting the lower body.


Death Valley SAQ: This workout is not for the faint-of-heart!  For those who want a sports conditioning workout like our Tigers out on the field, this SAQ (speed, agility, quickness) class will put you through an intense workout with ladders, reaction balls, cones, and jump ropes to condition your body like an athlete!


Express Cycling +Abs: This class combines the benefits of Cycling and Core Strength into one awesome 60-minute class, with 30 minutes of sprints, jumps, and climbs followed by 30 minutes of ab and core training.


Quick HIIT: HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training, one of the newest styles of express workouts! This class uses a variety of equipment including kettlebells, dumbbells, jump ropes, and your own body weight to get a quick full-body workout. A great class if you are crunched for time, with its action-packed 30-minute express workout!
