About Robert: Robert has been involved with the CORE Program since he was a student at Clemson in late 90's.  After graduating from Clemson in 2001 he left South Carolina with his wife Sarah and dogs to see the country.  He worked as a seasonal raft guide in Washington State and with the Army and Air Force Outdoor Programs in New York and California.  In August of 2006 he returned to Clemson to work as the Director of the Outdoor Program.  Stop by the Outdoor Office at the Campus Beach to talk to him about the next exciting CORE Adventure Trip.

About Mike: Mike is a graduate student in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Managmenet.  He received his bachelor's degree in Recreation and Tourism Studies from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.  While at ODU, he was an adventure trip leader for their Outdoor Adventure Program.  After graduating, Mike spent some time working for North Idaho College where he taught kayaking, rock climbing, and sailing classes.  After returning to Virginia he spent the winter teaching snowboard lessons and living the dream on a mountain.

About Mike: Mike is  a junior in civil engineering and has been climbing for six years and kayaking for a year and a half.  He has worked as a raft guide on sections III and IV of the Chattooga River and has climbed all over NC and parts of TN, GA, AL, KY, WV and NV.  He loves omlets mainly because eggs are really cheap and thinks that the one dollar baked potato at Wendy's is the best thing that has ever happened to fast food.

About Emily: Emily is the Campus Beach & Recreation Area Coordinator.  She has her B.S. in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management with a concentration in Community Recreation, Sport and Camp Management and a minor in Business Administration (yeah, that's a mouthful) from Clemson University. Emily has led trips for CORE since the summer of 2008.  She has enjoyed the outdoors her entire life and is up for almost any adventure that might come her way. About Jon: Jon is a Masters Student in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. Jon graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2001 with an undergraduate degree in Outdoor Recreation. Jon currently serves CORE as one of the Student Climbing Wall Managers and trip leader. Having spent most of his career as a residential camp director for the YMCA, Jon has also worked in wilderness therapy with adjudicated teens and guided rafting, climbing and expedition style trips. Jon has trekked in many countries and says his favorite is the Himalaya.

About Adam: This local boy has been enjoying the fruits of the southeast his whole life.  Adam enjoys paddling and hiking the most of all outdoor activities, but also enjoys skiing and adventure races too.  Trips to be remembered:  Yosemite (hiking), Mt. Whitney (hiking), Smokies in Fall (hiking), Jackson Hole (skiing), any trip down the Chattooga, San Juan (rafting) and any trip with his wonderful wife.  Adam is a graduate student in the PRTM Department, currently studying Recreation Resource Management.  Adam completed his WFR with WMA in June of '08, an ACA swift water rescue course in May '08, and is an ACA Level 4 Whitewater Kayaking Instructor.

About Lauren: My name is Lauren, and I'm a Junior English literature major. I joined the CORE staff after raft guiding for a summer on the Chattooga River near Clayton, GA. Aside from going rafting and taking people down the beautiful Chattooga and Nantahala rivers, I love backpacking, running, and kayaking down the Cooper Library stairs. Once I graduate (hopefully in December of 2012), I plan to either work for a few months out in Yosemite National Park, or volunteer for a while in Central America before applying for Grad school or a job with a social justice non-profit organization.

About Tripp: I grew up on the coast of south carolina, always in the water, either sailing, kiteboarding, or surfing. When I went to Clemson, I fell in love with the blue ridge mountains and their rivers. I love exploring the blue ridge either by kayak or mountain bike. I learned how to whitewater kayak on the Chattooga and French Broad and now spend most of my time on the Green River. In the past, I have worked in Jackson Hole, WY as a raft guide and kayak instructor on the Snake River. I just recently returned to Clemson to pursue my Masters degree and am really excited to be helping with CORE again. I am a Certified Wilderness First Responder.

About Abby: Abby is a junior, PRTM major at Clemson. She is a native of Chattooga River land, and has been in love with rivers and the outdoors since she was very small. For the past five years she has raft-guided for the Nantahala Outdoor Center on sections III and IV of the Chattooga. She has kayaked in a good chunk of the southeast, a little out west, and some internationally. Any outdoor sport makes her happy. About Cam: Camden's interest in the outdoors stemmed from an early love of rock climbing. Growing up on the coast, he was limited to climbing walls and long trips with friends to the nearest rock. Luckily he also had a love for surfing, something the fine beaches of Charleston had plenty to offer. Camden graduated from Clemson with a degree in Computer Science in Dec 2011. While at Clemson he worked at the Climbing Wall and led many outdoor trips for CORE.

About Brent: Brent is a junior chemical engineering major from Sumter, SC. He has always loved the outdoors, and as a native of the lower part of the state, Brent has enjoyed discovering some of the many outdoor highlights of the South Carolina upstate. Brent’s favorite outdoor trip is the NOLS course he took during the summer of 2009. The 30 day backpacking trip in the Absaroka Mountains of northwest Wyoming was an amazing experience. Brent is Wilderness First Responder Certified and a Leave No Trace trainer.

About Nick:  Nick is a junior Biological Sciences major here at Clemson. He got into outdoor stuff at a pretty young age with scouts as well as just doing outdoor stuff with his family. He started working as a raft guide on the middle Ocoee River in TN 2 years ago and has been doing that ever since. He recently re-discovered how much he loves backpacking and is looking forward to doing some more of that in the near future.

About Brad: I'm a senior Mechanical Engineering major from the suburbs of Atlanta but I'm proud to call Clemson my home! I have been mountain biking about as long as I can remember but really got hooked when I started working at the local bike shop back in high school. As a trip leader with CORE, I was fortunate enough to go on the MOAB mountain biking trip in the Spring Break 2011. This inspired me to do more traveling and riding so this past summer I went on a month-long, solo road trip to the West Coast and British Columbia. I rode some epic trials, slept in my car for weeks, met some amazing people, and caught up with old friends. It was truly the highlight of my summer and possibly of my life to date! I look forward to traveling the globe and riding in places I can only dream of.  If I could make one recommendation, it would be to try new things outside your comfort zone. You will have more fun than you could have possibly imagined.

About Emily: Emily is a graduate student in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Parks and Recreation Management at Western Carolina University in 2009.  Emily worked for four years at WCU's Outdoor Program leading trips including rafting, backpacking, caving, hiking, climbing, and kayaking. Her favorite outdoor adventure was a Wilderness Education Association backpacking course in the Grand Tetons.

About Alyssa:
A Junior Health Science major, Alyssa is an avid hiker and backpacker. During her summers, Alyssa works as an outdoor tour guide in Yellowstone National Park. Her hobbies include yoga, camping, photography, and playing guitar. After college, her plans include grad school, traveling, and becoming either a neonatal nurse or pediatric physical therapist.
