In addition to their classes, Clemson MBA students love to network – and they love to compete!

Baylor University MBA National Ethics Leadership Case Competition

Each year, a team of Clemson MBA students participates in the Baylor University MBA National Ethics Leadership Case Competition. This year, MBA students John Kanet, Curtis Puechl and Donna Armocida traveled to Waco, Texas, to compete against students from 11 other MBA programs. In the competition, students are given one day to analyze a lengthy, real-life, corporate ethics case and prepare a 25-minute presentation. The presentation is given to distinguished faculty members from Baylor and  successful business leaders from across Texas. Ethics is an area that is becoming more and more important to corporations. Having the opportunity to compete in such a competition is extremely advantageous to Clemson University and to the students selected to compete.

2009 Detroit Auto Show, Connecting with GEN Y Event

Two Clemson MBA students gained the attention of U.S. automakers during the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. Adam Stubblefield and Trevor Turner participated in the Deloitte “Connecting with GEN Y Event” by presenting a market analysis on automakers. Clemson was one of five participating schools. The others were Syracuse University, Michigan State University, Gonzaga University and Texas Tech.

“Ours were the only first-year MBA students involved, but they stacked up well with the very best of these other schools,” said Clemson marketing associate professor John Mittelstaedt.

The event was attended by executives from U.S. auto manufacturers, including the CFO of Ford, the VP of marketing for GM and for the Pontiac Brand, and the director of Consumer Insights and Product Research for Chrysler. Press covering the event included the New York Times, Reuters and USA Today. Stubblefield and Turner presented the findings of the first-year MBA students and fielded questions from the industry and press.

The GEN Y event was featured in news outlets on a local and national level. Read the New York Times story or the local Upstate Today article.
