Racial Differences in the Impact of Participating in Advanced Placement Programs on Educational and Labor Market Outcomes

Abstract:

Nationally representative data were used to examine the long-term effects of participation in Advanced Placement (AP) programs on high school students’ educational and labor market outcomes. In the study, AP program participation was associated with higher college entrance examination scores, undergraduate grade point averages, postsecondary attainment, and incomes.
