Yahong Xu is Assistant Director of Learning Systems at Clemson Online and a system administrator for Blackboard and Canvas. She interacts with the LMS (Learning Management System) provider to resolve issues, address issues, and ensure stable operation; manages operation and administration of supplemental learning applications that work in conjunction with the LMS, including but not limited to SIS, LTI, and API; researches and tests LMS features and procedures, ensure necessary features and assets are up-to-date, that system upgrades are appropriately documented and LMS transition is smooth; collaborates with staff to optimize the use of LMS course development, delivery, and assessment; maintains technical procedures and policy documentation for business processes.
Yahong coordinates setup and delivery of the LMS for all traditional, hybrid, and online courses across the university; leads and facilitates meetings with vendors and internal departments to coordinate consistent system and business processes; assists faculty in designing, developing, and delivering highly effective, interactive and engaging online courses and programs that incorporate best practices in instructional design, pedagogy, assessment, and use of digital media and technologies; pilots educational technologies and applications that create improved academic outcomes and greater system-wide efficiency.
She reviews and revises institutional best practices and standards for academic technology use related to Clemson’s LMS; advises the Director of Texts and Technologies and participates in strategic planning related to Clemson’s LMS, its maintenance procedures, and potential points of improvement; pursues professional certifications appropriate to academic technology, data/learning analytics, and other IT or LMS educational concepts; pursues professional growth through workshops, seminars, and demonstrations; collaborates with peer institutions about LMS implementation, support, and best practices.
She also works with vendors to provide ongoing support for additional technology tools to integrate with the LMS. She has made the greatest effort to work with the support team to make sure users’ questions, issues, concerns and problems are addressed in a timely manner.
Yahong Xu has over 18 years of experiences with learning management systems and other online tools that enable faculty to teach or integrate in a regular classroom, blended or online environment.
Yahong enjoys working with faculty and staff to identify best practices for the effective use of technologies and providing technical and instructional design support to faculty to enhance and maximize classroom or online learning.
Yahong has presented at the United States Distance Learning Association (DLA) conference and the South Carolina/North Carolina Blackboard User Group conference. She has earned an online teaching certificate from the Online Learning Consortium. She has taken Google Apps for Education training classes and is working toward becoming a Google Certified Educator. She is also a Blackboard exemplary course reviewer. Yahong is a graduate of Clemson University's Staff Development program that offers an opportunity for professional achievement and community/organization contribution.
Yahong likes running and jumping rope. She also enjoys cooking and trying different recipes for her family.
