Lisa Benson profileLisa Benson

I am a professor in the Department of Engineering and Science Education at Clemson. I research topics that affect the professional preparation of future engineers and scientists, like student motivation, learning, sense of belonging, and problem-solving skills. I am a two-time Clemson graduate (M.S. and Ph.D. in Bioengineering), an American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Fellow and the 2018 recipient of the Clemson University Class of ’39 Award for Faculty Excellence. I am the founder and director of Science as Art, along with Martin Beagley. I love the opportunity this event gives to students, faculty and staff to share their love of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and art!

Martin profileMartin Beagley

I am the Graphics Manager in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences at Clemson. I graduated from Colorado State University with a BFA in Graphic Design. I started working on Science as Art with Lisa Benson in 2006. I really enjoy working with people who want to share their work for this event and making it as beautiful and engaging as possible.

I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson. I am a two-time Clemson graduate (M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering). I started working with Lisa Benson and Martin Beagley on Science as Art soon after I submitted an entry to it as a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering over 10 years ago. I really like how this event helps connect people and how they can learn from the entries submitted.
