Serving our state. Serving our students. All thanks to generous donors.

Eugene T. Moore Scholarships, Teacher Residency Awards and Doctoral Student Fellowships provide financial assistance that enables student success

Thanks to the generosity of our principal donor, Darla Moore, our College is able to award scholarships on both the undergraduate and graduate levels to increase the number of students from underrepresented and underserved communities throughout programs in our College. This financial assistance encourages students from across the state to pursue careers in education and allied fields, in many cases, bring their expertise and passion back to rural, underserved areas of the state.

Eugene T. Moore Undergraduate Education Scholarships

The goal of the Moore Undergraduate Education Scholarships for first-time freshmen and transfer students is to increase the number of students from underrepresented and underserved communities who are enrolled in and will graduate from any undergraduate education program in Clemson’s College of Education.

The College awards six scholarships to first-time freshmen ($2,000 per student per semester) renewable for up to a total of eight semesters of undergraduate study from the first term of enrollment based on eligibility. For transfer students, the College also awards six scholarships renewable for up to a total of six semesters of undergraduate study from the first term of enrollment based on eligibility. Scholarships for transfer students are awarded in the amount of $1,500 per student per semester.

We are happy to introduce these students so you can learn more about their motivations for pursuing a College of Education degree as well as a career in education.

Eugene T. Moore Teacher Residency Awards

The goal of the Eugene T. Moore Teacher Residency Fellowships is to increase the number of students from underrepresented and underserved communities who are enrolled in the teacher residency program in the Clemson University College of Education. The College awards seven living stipend awards to teacher residents in their fifth year of the teacher residency program based on eligibility. Stipends are awarded in the amount of $3,000.

Along with the residency awards, this funding also supports mentor teachers working with residents. The funding waives graduate school application fees for courses necessary to complete mentor training in the program. In addition, it reduces tuition and provides stipends to develop teacher leaders in school districts and schools in existing and new partnerships. Educators trained through graduate coursework on mentoring and instructional coaching more effectively develop teacher candidates and induction teachers.

“As a first generation Mexican-American and the first in my family to go to a university, my knowledge of colleges was very limited. What really sold me on Clemson was double majoring in secondary education and mathematical sciences...I loved the fact that Clemson has the MAT in teacher residency, which helps educators get their master’s degree while being in a field placement for a year.”

“Growing up I was never too sure how to answer the question ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ I knew that I loved children and serving others. I picked early childhood education because I simply knew that I could make a difference in students at a young age as well as give them a pure joy for learning.”

“Two things drew me to Clemson; one was the teaching and learning Ph.D. program itself, and the other was the HyFlex option for study, although now I'm a full-time, on-campus student. I love the flexibility Clemson offers for its students to achieve a degree in a way that works best for us. It is clear that what I am learning in my program of study will set me up perfectly for my future career goals. Go Tigers!”

“Now that I am learning from and working with them, I can attest that my gut instincts about them were right. The educational and organizational leadership development team is like no other, and that is what brought me to campus. I believe that will also keep me engaged and help me meet my personal and professional goals through the completion of this program. I am excited for what is to come and thankful to have found the connection I sought.”
