S.C. Agriculture and Clemson Public Service Activities

Our state is famous for sweet, juicy peaches and has one of the largest peach orchards in the nation. But did you know we also have the only tea plantation in North America?

Our major row crops are soybeans, cotton, peanuts and tobacco. But we also produce Carolina Gold rice, muscadine grapes and collards -- our new state vegetable. We have one of the largest sod production operations in the South. And more than 450 golf courses.

Our cattlemen are adopting forage-fed beef practices; and our poultry industry produces more than 250 million birds each year.

Our nursery industry supports some of the oldest public gardens in the U.S.; and our forestland goes from black-water swamps to Christmas treefarms.
