LaMaster Dairy Center Education

The Dairy Center teaches several classes, including Dairy Science Techniques, Dairy Cattle Selection, and Dairy Cattle Feeding and Management. Several students in the Animal Science Techniques course halter-break, fit, and show dairy cattle for the little North American as part of their curriculum. The farm crew assists many classes and individual student projects.

LaMaster Dairy Center provides animals and support for research, teaching, and extension activities. Dr. Steve Ellis is currently working on Ontogeny and Proliferate behavior of Bovine Mammary Stem Cells; while Dr. Tom Jenkins works on the Digestion and Metabolism of Fat Supplements in dairy cattle. Dr. John Gibbons is doing embryonic research. Other environmental studies are ongoing with Dr. Greene and Dr. Chastain researching lagoon cleaning. There is also research on Fire Ants.
