At the May 2013 commencement ceremonies, for one family it was truly a commitment to education. Lance and Paula Beecher, husband and wife employees in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences both received graduate degrees. First, Lance walked the stage to be awarded his Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology with his advisor, Dr. Sarah A. White. Lance’s research focused on approaches to eliminate specific natural estrogenic hormones from wastewater effluent. He is currently in the fisheries and aquaculture program within the School of Environmental, Forest, and Agricultural Sciences. Lance received his B.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology and a M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology with emphasis in Aquaculture from Louisiana State University.
Paula Beecher then took her turn to shake hands with President Barker and receive her diploma for a Master of Agricultural Education. Paula is currently the Coordinator of Career Services in the W.B. Bookhart Student Services Center. Paula received her B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Louisiana State University.
