Program Educational Objectives

The undergraduate program in Chemical Engineering at Clemson University aims to produce graduates who within 3 to 5 years of graduation will

  • Successfully practice chemical engineering and provide leadership in industry, government organizations, or higher education.
  • Pursue further education in chemical engineering, other engineering or science disciplines, medicine, law, or business.
  • Generate, disseminate, and apply chemical engineering knowledge to solve contemporary challenges.

Student Outcomes

Upon graduation, our students will have obtained an:

  • Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
  • Ability to function on a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  • Understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
