About the Equine Center

The Equine Center maintains approximately 100 head of Quarter Horses, Paints and Thoroughbreds. The University utilizes horses for research, teaching, and Extension purposes.  The main farm consists of 80 acres of pastureland housing approximately half the herd year round. An additional 60 acres of grazing at the Simpson Experimental Station keeps horses not actively involved in teaching. The main farm’s classroom offers a lecture period prior to the hands-on portions of the equine classes.
