Cardiologist Waenard L. Miller and his wife, Sheila, of Frisco, Texas, have given $2 million to Clemson University to establish the Dr. Waenard L. Miller, Jr. ’69 and Sheila M. Miller Endowed Chair in Medical Physics. Read more about their generous gift on the Newsstand.

Congratulations to all our student award winners: Joshua Hanson (Outstanding Sophmore), Amber Porter (Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant), Jaclyn Schmitt (Cawthorne), Girish Sharma (Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant), Gary Vestal (Outstanding Junior), and Emily Thompson (SPS Senior Award). Emily Thompson, a graduating senior, is awarded an National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship. The Department of Physics & Astronomy would like to congratulate Ms. Thompson on her accomplishments and outstanding work at Clemson and are excited to be see her research, science, and discovery in the years to come.

Dr. Feng Ding, Assistant Professor, is awarded National Science Foundatio's Faculty Early Career Development grant for his work in nano‑bio interactions. 

Dr. Terry Tritt has been named Interim Chair of Physics and Astronomy, taking over for Dr. Mark Leising, who is Interim Dean of the College of Science.
