CI Travel Grants

The Creative Inquiry program offers competitive grants for CI undergraduate student travel. Funds may be used for students to travel to present the results of a Creative Inquiry project at a state, regional or national professional conference or other venue and for a faculty member or other team leader to accompany them. Preference is given to travel that is completed before June 30. Limited funding may be available for travel after July 1.

Summer CI grants
Deadline: May 11, 2015

CI mentors are invited to apply for funds to support salaries in early summer (May-June) for undergraduate students to continue CI project work. Eligibility is restricted to undergraduate students who: will not graduate earlier than August 2015; are either enrolled in a Fall 2014-Spring 2015 CI project OR are preregistered for a Fall 2015-Spring 2016 CI project.

CI Adobe Scholars
Deadline: March 6, 2015

CI team leaders are invited to nominate current CI undergraduate students to become CI Adobe Scholars.

During the summer of 2015, this select, small group of CI students will:

  • Learn to use Adobe Creative Cloud programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier)
  • Produce articles on their CI projects, to be featured in the 2016 edition of Decipher magazine.

CI Adobe Scholars will participate in Adobe training workshops, 3 mornings/week, from May 15 to June 30, 2015, and will continue independent work and assignments outside of the meeting times, throughout the summer to August 7, 2015.

Each CI Adobe Scholar must commit to 160 hours of work during the summer, for a salary of $1600, paid as $10/hour. Students must submit time sheets to be paid. Students may combine this workwith a CI Summer Stipend (up to a maximum workweek of 28 hours) with the approval of their CI team leaders.

Student Opportunity Center

Creative Inquiry partnered with the Student Opportunity Center (SOC) to bring Clemson undergraduate students over 8000 presentation, publishing, internships, and funding opportunities. The SOC is a database and community platform where students are connected with academic engagement opportunities.

ACC Undergraduate Research Conference
Deadline: January 31, 2015

The ACC will sponsor undergraduate students to present the results of their research projects at the 2015 ACC Meeting of the Minds conference at NC State University, April 10-12. The ACC pays all costs. Applications are competitive and require a recommendation letter from a research mentor.

ACCAC Fellowships in Creativity and Innovation
Deadline: March 1, 2015

This fellowship program supports undergraduate student-driven research projects at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) campuses. Fellows are sponsored by the Clemson University Office of Undergraduate Studies and the Atlantic Coast Conference Inter-institutional Academic Collaborative (ACCIAC). Each Fellow receives an award of up to $4,000 to conduct innovative research. The project must be substantially the idea of the student, though it may derive from previous work with a mentor. Examples of project outcomes might include publication, artistic work, presentation or a proof-of-concept proposal. Fellows receive additional funding to present their project results at the 2015 ACC Undergraduate Research Conference. Application forms for this fellowship are available in early February each year. The Fellowship research period is March through August.

ACCAC Summer Research Scholars
Deadline: March 1, 2015

Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Consortium (ACCAC) Summer Research Scholars program will support one (non-Clemson) undergraduate student from another ACC institution for summer research at Clemson. Each Scholar will receive $5,000 to cover summer living expenses and a stipend.
Each summer each ACC school will receive $5000 to support an undergraduate student researcher from another ACC university. Ideally, the visiting student-researcher will become part of a group that includes other visiting researchers (e.g. REU participants).

MAD Entrepreneurs

The Arthur M. Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership recognizes the need to provide experiences beyond the classroom for young entrepreneurs. MAD Entrepreneurial Challenge is designed to assist entrepreneurs: those who are motivated by a desire to help, improve and transform social, environmental, educational and economic conditions. The completion requires that a team produce a three-minute video showing the difference that they have made in the community.

NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program. Most REU applications are due by early February.
