The Grant Proposal Process

Getting Started and Finding Funding

The Office of Research Support assists in obtaining electronic registration with federal sponsors, with locating external and internal funding opportunities, and distributes information about Limited Submissions.

Developing Your Proposal

Our staff and the OSP Proposal Development Center provide developmental editing, proofreading, and group or individual consultation on all aspects of the proposal writing process, and proposal-related resources.

Preparing & Submitting Your Proposal

The Research Support Staff assist with developing budgets, verifying the necessary forms and templates, and explaining the requirements for the submission of your proposal. The Research Office will submit your proposal on behalf of Clemson University to the sponsor. CAAC Policy states that a final version of your proposal must be submitted to CAAC Research Support five business days prior to the sponsor deadline in order to meet University deadlines.

Award Negotiation & Setup

The Office of Research Support is authorized to negotiate and accept awards on your behalf. Our office works closely with faculty members during the negotiation phase.

Managing Your Award

The CAAC Business Office works closely with the Office of Research Support and Grants and Contracts Administration in the Research Division during the life of the award.

Project Closeout

Grants and Contracts Administration works closely with the CAAC Business Office and the Office of Research Support in closing out each project according to federal, state and/or sponsor guidelines.
