Professor Mike Pulley is an award-winning educator, journalist and poet. He is a senior lecturer in the Clemson University English Department where he teaches science writing and journalism. He won the university’s Pearce Center Professional Writing & Communication Award in 2022 and the Holman Teaching Award in 2020. Pulley was a journalist and technical writer for more than 20 years with publications in the San Francisco Examiner, the Sacramento Bee, and the Sacramento Business Journal. A 1987 investigation into the life of a schizophrenic murderer won Associated Press and United Press International awards. His poetry has appeared in Carolina Quarterly, Another Chicago Magazine, Canary, Cold Mountain Review, and Café Review, among others. In 2008, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission named him one of Sacramento’s “Pioneer Poets.”
