Arantza Gil Recalde has a master’s degree in Biology from the University of La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain. She has more than ten years of professional experience in public health. Working for the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Health, she has been part of the European Union task force that studies the toxicity of chemical products and how they affect human health. She also has a master's degree in Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Management and Communication. She has worked with different NGOs on several projects for sustainable development in rural areas of Spain, Africa, and Latin America. She also has an educational and professional background in permaculture and a special interest in community gardens and their use as a tool for social integration, particularly for immigrant women and children. She has designed and organized vegetable garden projects for the Red Cross and different local institutions in Madrid, Spain, working with youth at risk of exclusion and refugees. She has also taught workshops and courses on environmental awareness, permaculture, and good health practices.
