Jenny Joczik has returned to her roots – not only to SC, but to her original hometown of Clemson, after more than 35 years of teaching at a variety of institutions in the U.S. and abroad.

Professor Joczik was awarded a J. William Fulbright Teaching Grant to Denmark, where she lived for two years. She also worked as a private tutor in Paris and attended the Sorbonne, where she completed a program in French language and culture. Her Ph.D. research led to numerous trips to Ireland. She attended the Yeats International Summer School and earned a certificate in Yeats Studies. Professor Joczik has presented papers at national and international conferences on a wide range of topics:

“’A Heaven Like Mahomets’ Paradise’: John Donne and the Sensual Deity” (Bronx, NY)
“Yeats and Irishness: Symbols of Irish Culture” (Montreal, Canada)
“Exploding the Myth of the Southern Woman” (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Her publications and activism have centered around animal welfare issues, and she serves on several boards of animal rescue organizations.
